I  am looking to buy my wife an HP 15 2020 edition Red laptop.

It reportedly has Intel Pentium Gold 6405U  | 2 cores | Up to 2.4 GHz

4 Gb ram

 Intel UHD Graphics 605 (Integrated)

128 SSD

will it be able to handle zoom virtual background without greenscreen?

will it be ok for every day use, Office software applications, light web browsing, email, etc?

Discussion of the problem is here

https://pletaura.com/zoom-virtual-background-or-green-screen-not-working/

I suspect the application has more to do with the problem than the laptop.  My son uses it extensively on Windows running in parallels on Mac book as well desktop native windows and reports glitching and poor quality iregardless of the hardware.  Not crisp outlines, etc.

Post back here what you find.

Thanks BeemerBiker.

I took a look at the article you linked.

Reviewed the system requirements for virtual backgrounds and don't see this CPU on the list.

I will keep looking for an affordable laptop that can support virtual background.

thanks again for the help.
