HI all...Spoke to HP just prior to purchasing 2nd Monitor - explained and gave them model of this AI0 PC  ("it's fine all you need is HDMI cable)

So got 2nd Monitor (also HP) ... wasn't recognised by PC  -spoke to HP again - "its because each of your HDMI slots are internal, not external" (seems odd for such a modern PC) - anyway he told me I need a HDMI splitter.

Is this correct - I'm looking to EXTEND my screen for bigger work space etc.../ is HDMI to HDMI splitter best of Display Port to HDMI - hope somebody can help?

Hi @Yarmas,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers who should be able to sort this out.

For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

I just purchased the same computer and have the same problem.  The Q&A section of the HP store answered that YES an external monitor can be connected.

Did you ever get an answer or solution?

Hi - no problem - I was given incorrect info by two HP support individuals - very nice, helpful yet didn't fully understand product limitations - finally found out my three HDMI ports are all outward not inward so no chance of 'extending screen' - I think you could use a splitter to duplicate - that's not what I was after.

Also tried 'USB C to HDMI' connector - doesn't work.

I sent monitor back -

In hindsight I'm 50 quid down on leads purchased ... and should had gone for a dedicated business PC - this one is great yet is more designed for multi media / gaming etc...

HP not a bad company and returns process is good - Hope it goes well for you.
