Hi, I recently upgraded my HP 8300 from windows 7 to windows 10 and I cannot get multi-monitor to work anymore. It worked fine before windows 10. I keep getting an error saying the intel(r) HD graphics has stopped working and that it defaults to the microsoft Basic Display Driver which will allow one monitor to work. If I disable the intel driver it will only clone the two monitors and will not let me extend them. Also it only reports as one monitor although two are being displayed upon. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry that didn't work for you.
It usually does and since there is W10 driver support, I don't know what the issue could be.
You could try clean installing W10 (back up any files you need to keep), or if that is too much trouble, you may want to just purchase a compatible graphics card that supports dual monitors.
This was the supported dual head graphics card for the 8200 and 8300 Elite model series.
You will also need a DMS-59 to VGA or DVI splitter cable, depending on what kind of inputs your monitors have.
W10 will install the driver automatically.

Hi:
What processor does your model have?
Different processors use different Intel HD graphics drivers.
Nothing is going to work unless you can get the correct Intel graphics driver installed.

OK, so your PC has the Intel HD 2500 graphics.
See if this works... First make sure the Intel HD graphics adapter is enabled..whether it be labeled as Intel or Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
Download and unzip the zip file version of the W10 x64 Intel HD 2500 graphics driver from the link below (looks like the 3rd one down on the left).
Version: 15.33.47.5059 (Latest) Date: 9/18/2018
Unzip the graphics driver file to its folder.
Once that is done, go to the device manager. Click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.
Click on the Intel or Microsoft basic display adapter listed there.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click on Have Disk, and browse to the Intel graphics driver folder you unzipped>graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC, and hopefully your graphics will be working as expected.
