Installed MSI GEFORCE GT710 graphics card to run 2nd monitor. HP Desktop doesn't detect 2nd monitor. Worked with Microsoft and they couldn't get it to work either. Allow Microsoft to driver as I am not great with computers

Hi @dpmaier,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've installed an MSI GeForce GT710 graphics card to run a second monitor on your HP Desktop and the second monitor is not being recognized, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Connections: Ensure that the second monitor is properly connected to the graphics card using the correct cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA, etc.). Also, make sure the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source.
Driver Installation: Make sure you've installed the latest drivers for the MSI GeForce GT710 graphics card. Visit the MSI or NVIDIA website to download and install the most up-to-date drivers for your specific graphics card model.
Windows Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display Settings."
- Scroll down to the "Multiple displays" section and ensure that "Extend these displays" is selected. This allows Windows to recognize and use the second monitor.
- Click on "Detect" to force Windows to search for connected monitors again.
NVIDIA Control Panel:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel" (assuming you've installed the NVIDIA drivers).
- Under the "Display" section, select "Set up multiple displays."
- Make sure the second monitor is recognized here. You can also try using the "Configure" option to set up the displays.
BIOS Settings: Some motherboards might require you to enable or adjust settings related to additional graphics cards in the BIOS. Check your motherboard's manual for guidance on how to do this.
Re-seat the Graphics Card: Sometimes the graphics card might not be seated properly in its slot. Turn off the computer, unplug it, and carefully re-seat the graphics card in its slot on the motherboard.
Compatibility: Ensure that the MSI GeForce GT710 graphics card is compatible with your HP Desktop's hardware and operating system. Verify this by checking the card's specifications and your desktop's documentation.
Test the Graphics Card: If possible, try the graphics card in another computer to ensure that it's functioning correctly. Conversely, you might try another known-working graphics card in your HP Desktop to see if the issue is with the card itself.
Update Windows: Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates, as these updates can sometimes address compatibility and driver-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
