All in one pc has monitor problems - dark areas on screen. is it worth trying to replace the builtin monitor

@rgaustad -- did you purchase the All-In-One within the last 12 months? If so, there is no "downside" to contacting HP Support, to open a claim against the HP Warranty, to see if HP will repair/replace your monitor, at HP's expense.

 

If you had to do it yourself, it might be difficult to source a replacement screen, and expensive to get a computer technician to disassemble, swap, reassemble, and test.
