Hi @abhishekbagru,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP laptop’s gyroscope and orientation sensors—especially with the transition between PC mode and tablet mode. This could be caused by either a software issue, driver problem, or a hardware malfunction.

Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully fix this issue:

1. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, issues with sensors or hardware can be caused by outdated software or drivers. Make sure your system is fully updated:

  • Open Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.
  • Install any pending updates, especially driver updates that could be related to sensors or device functionality.

2. Reinstall or Update the Sensor Driver

The issue could be with the drivers managing the sensors. You can try reinstalling or updating them:

  • Press Windows + X, then select Device Manager.
  • Look for any sensor-related drivers under categories like Sensors, Human Interface Devices, or System Devices.
  • Right-click on the sensor drivers (like HID Sensor Collection or Gyroscope), then choose Update driver.
  • If updating doesn’t work, try Uninstalling the driver and then restarting your laptop so that Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

3. Calibrate the Sensors

If the gyroscope or orientation sensor has become misaligned, you may need to calibrate them. Here’s how:

  • Open Settings > Privacy > Location.
  • Scroll down and look for a section called Sensor Calibration or any calibration options available for your device. If there’s an option to calibrate the sensors, follow the on-screen prompts.

4. Check Tablet Mode Settings

Windows uses the Tablet Mode setting to control how your laptop behaves when its screen is rotated:

  • Open Settings > System > Tablet.
  • Ensure the settings for tablet mode are configured to automatically switch based on the position of the screen. Try turning off "Let Windows automatically switch to Tablet Mode" and then switching it back on.

If this isn't set up correctly, it could be affecting how the system transitions between PC and tablet modes.

5. Test the Sensors with HP Support Assistant

  • Download and open HP Support Assistant (if you don’t already have it installed).
  • Run the Diagnostics tool to check for any issues related to the sensors or other hardware components.
  • If HP Support Assistant finds any issues, it should guide you through steps to fix them.

6. Check for Hardware Issues

Since your sensors work in tablet mode but not in PC mode, it could indicate a hardware issue, such as a loose connection or sensor malfunction. In this case:

  • If you feel comfortable, you could open the back panel of your laptop to inspect the connections of the internal sensors (be cautious with this step—opening the laptop may void the warranty).
  • Alternatively, you should contact HP support to schedule a professional diagnosis, especially if your laptop is still under warranty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
