Hello,
i have just restored from disk windows 10 on a all in one pavilion. V8P05AA#ABA
everything works but no touchscreen.
i ran the UEFI diags and they seem to run ok. There was no diagnostic specific for the touch screen
It did have me upated to the latest BIOS and i did.
in the control panel or devices there is nothing that even suggests there is touch capabilty.
in the windows diag tool until input devices, there is no touch screen..
Would love some suggestions on how to fix or debug this issue
THanks

Hi:
Did you use a W10 HP recovery image, or did you clean install W10 from a disk?
If you clean installed W10, you can make a bootable USB recovery drive with the HP cloud recovery tool, which will install W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

If your PC has a recovery partition (drive (D:)), and you elected to factory reset the PC, that should have had the touchscreen drivers.
If you did a reinstall Windows with or without keeping files and settings, that may not necessarily have the touchscreen drivers.
The problem with touchscreens on most of these PC's is there are no standalone drivers that you can install to get the touchscreen to work again.
I still haven't figured out what combination of drivers (chipset, graphics?) gets the touchscreen to work.

Hello Paul, thank you for your help . It appears that cloud restore is the only option
When I use that cloud restore option, do i need to worry about windows keys or anything else?
The is my friends PC and I assumed restoring from disk it already had the creds needed for windows 10.
Thanks for all your help

You're very welcome.
As long as your friend doesn't have Microsoft Office installed, which would require you to have the product key, any HP PC that comes with W10 has the Windows product key encrypted in the BIOS.
You do not need the product key to use the Cloud recovery tool, or to clean install W10 from plain W10 installation media you can make with Microsoft's media creation tool.
