Hi @techeguy1971,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 27xi monitor's screen is black and you've ruled out software and cable issues, it is likely a hardware problem. Here are some steps to diagnose and possibly fix it.
- Check Power Supply: Ensure the monitor is receiving power. Check the power cable and adapter for any signs of damage or wear. Try a different power outlet and, if possible, a different power cable.
- Inspect for Physical Damage: Look for any visible damage on the monitor, such as cracks, bent pins in connectors, or any signs of burn marks which might indicate internal component failure.
- Test with Another Device: Connect the monitor to a different computer or device to confirm that the issue is with the monitor itself and not the connected device.
- Check for Internal Loose Connections: If you are comfortable opening the monitor (and it is out of warranty), you can check for any loose internal connections. Make sure to disconnect the power before doing this.
- Monitor Capacitors: Faulty capacitors are a common issue in monitors. Look for any capacitors on the internal power supply board that appear bulged or leaking and consider replacing them if you have soldering skills.
- Backlight Issue: The monitor’s backlight might be failing. Shine a flashlight at an angle on the screen when it’s turned on. If you can see faint images, the backlight might be the issue and may need replacing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
