Hi MNMama1,

I see your post is over two years old but I never received an email from HP forum to alert me. Like you, I had hoped the (our) problem would have a simple solution that I could possibly remedy myself with a bit of knowlwedgegable advice from the forum. It would seem at the least, a notification from HP Support  as to a nearest local service provider of their products would be nice.

However, I'm sure you have already solved your problem in the interim. In my case, I made what I considered to be the most cost effective choice and purchased another HP monitor at a local retailer.

Similar symptoms, in my case is clear it is a monitor issue in the electronics surrounding the power on/off button. Solved by connecting the monitor to a smart plug (on/off not using the monitor button).

I HAD the same problem. Monitor trying to come on but  turning of and on about every 10 seconds (monitor would make a clicking sound and the power light would cycle)  but would eventually turn on.  Worked great until I turned it off, then,  the  same routine.  My Problem was solved by replacing electrolytic capacitors on the power board. I opened my monitor (several videos showing the process on  computer, just Google it) I found several (5) capacitors bad, just by looking at them. They had a bulging top, should be flat. This must be a well known problem, as several companies offer a kit for this model monitor.  Just enter your Make and model and they have a capacitor kit for that model.  The kit came with 10 electrolytic capacitors, solder, a wick brad to clean off solder and instructions. You have to have a soldering iron. Very easy to do.  I had to buy one capacitor, as one of the supplied ones was rated at 10 volts and it should have been 25 volts. Check size and voltage to make sure your replacement is the same as original. I replaced all 10, not just the 5 bad ones. Everything works great. I used a company called LCD replacements. or something close to that. Give it a try. Worked great for me. Electrolytic capacitors have a shelf life and are known to go bad over time, especially the cheap ones from a certain country. The replacements are of a name brand capacitor. Good luck.
