Microsoft Windows 11

I have a working SCHWAB Think or Swim on my Windows 10 PC.  I bought a new HP TP01-3055xt   Windows 11 PC and accessed the Think or Swim program and am now unable to receive the (SCHWAB) CNBC TV video or audio.  Any suggestions to correct this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @JCC41,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Based on your description and the latest information from Schwab and HP, here’s a clear and simplified guide to help you restore CNBC TV video and audio streaming in Thinkorswim on your HP Pavilion TP01-3055xt running Windows 11.

1. Check Audio Output Settings

Sometimes Windows 11 defaults to the wrong audio device.

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → Sound Settings
  • Scroll down and click More sound settings
  • Under Playback, make sure your correct speakers or headphones are set as Default
  • Click Configure and Test to verify sound output

2. Verify CNBC Tool Settings in Thinkorswim

  • Open Thinkorswim and go to the CNBC TV gadget
  • At the bottom of the CNBC tool:
    • Click Play to start the stream
    • Hover over the volume icon and adjust the slider
    • Click the Full Screen icon if needed
  • If the video doesn’t play, try dragging the CNBC tool to another monitor or layout

3. Update Java and Thinkorswim

Thinkorswim uses Java internally. A mismatch or outdated version can cause video/audio issues.

  • Uninstall Thinkorswim completely
  • Reinstall using the official installer

4. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings

  • Ensure your firewall or antivirus isn’t blocking Thinkorswim or CNBC streaming
  • Add Thinkorswim as an exception in Windows Defender or a third-party antivirus

5. Try External Audio Devices

If your desktop doesn’t have built-in speakers:

  • Plug in external speakers or headphones into the green audio jack
  • Test sound using Windows volume mixer

We understand how important CNBC streaming is for your trading workflow. You’ve already done the right thing by checking the basics and reaching out. These steps should help restore full functionality, and if the issue persists, Schwab’s Trade Desk, As support is limited from HP.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
