I have a HP Pavilion 24- b212na.

Without warning my Bluetooth stopped working, the device manager shows the red triangle. I have upgraded/downgraded/installed/uninstalled till I'm blue(toothed) in the face 😉

Checking the device manager just after boot up, the Bluetooth icon switches on/off several times befor finally stopping at the red triangle, there is of course no option to turn Bluetooth on/off in the control panel. THe events log shows the following.

Device USB\VID_8087&PID_0AA7\6&3aba534a&0&4 had a problem starting.

Driver Name: bth.inf

I had to fit a new hard drive and new windows 10 (home edition) 12 months ago, I dont want to reinstall windows just for a Bluetooth error, there must be a fix, somewhere.
Also I noticed in the Device manager /other devices, PCI device & SM Bus Controller also have the red triangles but they may have been there before.
Any help greatly appreciated

Hi, Steve:

 

According to the parts list for your PC it comes with an Intel 3168 AC Wi-Fi adapter.

 

The only suggestion I can offer would be to install the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers directly from the Intel site.

Windows® 10 and Windows 11* Wi-Fi Drivers for Intel® Wireless Adapters

 

But before you do that, install the AMD chipset driver and restart the PC because that should install the SMBus controller which is a motherboard driver.

 

Download and install the 1st driver listed under the W10 x64 driver section.

The PCI device is the Realtek SD card reader in need of a driver.

Thanks for your quick reponse, I followed your advice, the only thing that changed was the events log results.
The Bluetooth is still out of Action, any suggestions appreciated.~

Sorry, the updated driver didn't work.

 

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you resolve that error.

 

I have the same card in my HP T630 thin client desktop PC that has an AMD processor and chipset and W10 installed everything but the SMBus controller driver.  BT works fine with all the latest W10 22h2 updates, etc.

 

When I am confronted by a problem that is taking me too long to fix, it is easier for me to just reinstall Windows.

 

If you decide to resort to reinstalling Windows, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store:

Hi, OK thanks for that.
My problem may be that my PC is exactly as I bought it but except with a new Samsung SSD drive as the factory installed one failed, also with it, the original Windows O/S. I bought a new Microsoft Disc with Windows Pro, (Although it only installed the Home version), I've had trouble free use until now.
Didn't windows used to have a repair option on the installation disk instead of a full install? Is that an option?
I appreciate your time in trying to resolve this for me.

Well, what can I say?, yesterday I had a pc without a functioning Bluetooth, after following advice on this page I now have a PC without a functioning Operating System, just stuck in a loop of the factory installation informing me it cannot proceed as a file it expected to read during installation is not available.

The error says,

Component: Windows 10 PIN Diagnostic Tool ReD - CPS

Timing: Factory update

Error: incorrect Brand Name (Unknown)

Expected Brand name from FB (Pavilion)

Next step: Please check Model Name or Feature Byte.

 

End of message.

So now what??

Well, still no reponse from you guys. I'm not suprised. you can come out from under the couch now.


A word of advice,  before you give out links to software that result in 'depth charge damage' to a pc, have a word with the HP programmers and ask them if it would not be a good idea for the program to self check its generated file integrity before deleting the Hard drive completely after it has been asked to proceed to reinstall windows.
Ok I am resonably PC savvy and made my own Windows installation Flash drive to resolve the windows issue, but i still had to waste time re-establishing  many lost program downloads,registrations/passwords/email settings etc.

To anyone being offered the program links seen in previous posts above think very, very hard whether you want to trust it, once you allow it to run with your 'new' windows update, there is no going back just a reformatted drive. Just Google customer reviews to see what people think.

I am disappointed with this help forum, nobody had the 'b*lls' to respond to my posted predicament. Shame on you.
