My Bluetooth has stopped working on my desktop. I have all drivers and Windows 10 fully up to date and I have tried removing and re-installing the bluetooth via the Windows Device Manager and tried to restart the services in Task Manager. Has anyone any advice? I have a number of BT devices which I can no longer use!!

@V-Strom Absolutely, getting the dongle is a good option, and let me know if you need anything else.

Have a good day.

@V-Strom Here are a few steps that should help resolve the issue:

1) Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Update & Security  > Troubleshoot . Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth, select Run the troubleshooter, and follow the instructions.

2) Uninstall the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager

If you don't see the Bluetooth icon, but Bluetooth does appear in Device Manager, try uninstalling the Bluetooth adapter, shutting down your PC, and triggering an automatic driver reinstall:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
  2. In Device Manager, select Bluetooth. Press and hold (or right-click) the Bluetooth adapter name (which may include the word “radio”), and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select the Start  button, then select Power  > Shut down.
  4. After your device shuts down, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Windows will try to reinstall the driver.
  5. If Windows doesn't reinstall the driver automatically, open Device Manager and select Action > Scan for hardware changes

If the issue persists, update the wireless card and BIOS drivers from the HP website: click here to find and install the same.

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately I had taken all these steps (without success) before posting on here. Also, the BIOS Drivers are all the latest version according to the troubleshooter/installer so no joy there either. 😞

...in addition, my Desktop is not visible to other Bluetooth devices despite visibility being turned on in Control Panel. It can find Bluetooth devices but will not connect; it simply repeatedly says try connecting your device again.Add Device.png

@V-Strom Let's ensure this isn't a hardware malfunction by running a test using the below steps:

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
  • Click Extensive Test.
  • Click Run once, or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

Thanks again for your reply, I did run the Extensive Diagnostics Test from within Windows and all hardware passed, but I will try from Boot as you suggested because I noticed the Windows Version does not include the Bluetooth hardware test. I'll reply again with the results.

...also, I have noticed that over the past week or so, when I remove an SD card from the SD Slot on the front of the PC, my PC reboots. Not sure if this odd behaviour may be related or not?

@V-Strom,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

Run the Bluetooth test from the F2 menu and let me know the result.

Cheers!

.@The_Fossette The Bluetooth test from the F2 Menu passed. I plan to run the full extensive test overnight as it will take 4.5hours+, I will report the results tomorrow. Thank you for responding.

Hi Riddle_Decipher. Just wanted to report back that I ran the Extensive System Test from Boot overnight and all devices passed so I assume this means the problem lies within Drivers/Setup. As I previously said, the drivers and the various BIOS are the latest and I even tried removing the Bluetooth Device and re-installing it. Windows 10 is also fully up to date.
