Can not connect to internet using stock Broadcom WLAN card

   I have a p7-1222 which was recently upgraded to Win10 64 bit. Since the upgrade, I have experienced little to no connectivity using Firefox v 46.0.1 or Internet Explorer v 11.0.31 yet using ipconfig, I can ping my router and receive a very quick response. I have the stock Broadcom WLAN adapter with a 2010 era driver which seems to be the current driver when I do an update. Is there a more current Win10 driver for this adapter? Do I need a newer adapter which is compatable with Win10? What can I do to connect to the internet with some type of regularity? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi:

If your PC has the Broadcom 4313 wlan adapter, I believe that doesn't work so well (if at all) with W10.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the W8.1 driver provides any improvement.

This package contains the Broadcom Wireless LAN Drivers that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebooks that are running a supported operating system.

If that doesn't work, the easiest thing to do would be to get an external usb wireless network adapter.

I use this one on my 3 HP business desktop PC's.  Works great on W10.

Thanks for the reply Paul. All of my USB ports are in use so I would need to buy a new PCI-e card for internal connection. I was hoping for just a new driver but that may not be possible. My network adapter is a Broadcom WL664 and could be too old to support Win10.

I was assuming your PC came with the BCM 4313, because the product specs indicate it came with built in wireless & bluetooth networking.

I don't have any recommendations for a PCIe x1 card.  Never had much luck with those regarding reception.

Thanks Paul. Decided your suggestion would probably be the easiest to try. I'll just have to unplug one of my devices to free a USB port.

I put the driver disk in my dvd drive and installed the driver from the linksys adapter in the device manager by browsing to the DVD, made sure the include subfolders box was checked and bingo.

I did not want the connection software as I let Windows manage my connnections.

By installing the driver that way, you just get the driver.
