HP ENVY H8-1409
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I've recently installed windows 7 to my HP ENVY H8-1409 which also runs windows 10 (dual boot). The problem I have now is I cannot connect to the internet via wifi or ethernet. I look in my device manager and it says some of my drivers need to be updated but my computer cant find them. when i look online for the drivers matching my computers model number and windows 7, i have no luck. Can only find for windows 8 and 8.1. I imagine it is because the computer was Windows 8 from the factory, but i feel there should still be a way around this issue.

Thanks to everyone in advance!

Hi:

You need this ethernet driver...

This package provides the original driver for the Atheros PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

And I think you need this wireless driver...

This package provides the original driver for the Broadcom WLAN Adapter solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

You may also need the bluetooth driver...

This package provides the original driver for the HP Bluetooth Module solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

Well this helped me alot seeing that im responding to this on the windows 7 part of my hard drive. One thing I noticed was I am connected to wifi and not ethernet (I have it plugged in lol)  . It still works but when I look in my Device management I still see 2 drivers missing, one being ethernet and the other SM Bus

I will post a picture below to show you what I mean.

Thank you again, I wouldn't have gotten this far if it werent for this reply!

I was able to update the ethernet controller through windows but im still connected to wifi. I tried to update the SM Bus controller and no luck with that. Not exactly sure what its for. I know i can just use the wifi but i rather use wired if i have the option. But if not, im sure i can deal with the wifi if i have to

Hi:

You need this driver for the smbus controller...Install and restart the PC.

This package provides the original driver for the Intel Chipset Family SMBus Controller solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57417.exe

If windows update installed the ethernet driver, then you should be able to connect via ethernet cable now.

Awesome! Thank you so much for your time!
1 more question though, i noticed a black boarder (about 1 inch) around my screen. I changed my resolution settings and that didnt seem to fix it. Im wondering if i may be missing one more driver? Sorry to be such a pain. Thank you again for all the help youre giving me

That worked for me. I'm now connect via ethernet.  My last problem is still the black boarder. I have 2 moniters and it is like that on both of them, i also cant configure the settings between the two moniters. It wont let me expand display, only duplicate screen.

You're very welcome.

The product specs for your PC indicate that it comes with an add-on video card (Radeon HD 7570).

So yes, I believe you need the AMD graphics driver for W7.

This should be the driver you need for the HP proprietary graphics card.

This package provides the original driver for the AMD/ATI Radeon HD graphics solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57510.exe

You can't use the driver from AMD, so don't try to update the driver that way.

I have read many posts from other forum members complaining about the proprietary AMD card, and the fact that HP doesn't provide graphics driver updates for it.

Let me know if you need additional assistance.  It's no bother at all.
