My computer was connected to the wifi network but suddenly had no internet. I checked settings and it said that the Wifi was turned off; I switched it back on using the button in settings but nothing happened. I cannot see the wifi Device manager states that the Realtek adapter is working and that the drivers are up to date, but internet settings states that there is no connection. I have had to use an ethernet cable and a wifi signal extender as a temporary fix. When I go into settings Wifi is always turned off and I cannot find any networks. This computer does not have a wifi button; key 12 opens the settings menu. Grateful for any advice.

Hi @Coenred,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the Wi-Fi on your HP Pavilion 24-Xa All-In-One Desktop PC. Since you've already checked the device manager and confirmed that the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter is working and the drivers are up to date, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
- Restart the Computer: Sometimes, simply restarting your computer can resolve temporary Wi-Fi issues.
- Check the Physical Wi-Fi Switch: Although your computer might not have a dedicated Wi-Fi button, it could have a physical switch on the side or back that turns the wireless functionality on or off. Check if there's a physical switch and make sure it's in the "on" position.
- Function Key (F12 or another key): You mentioned that key 12 opens the settings menu. Check if there's a function key (F-key) with a Wi-Fi symbol (usually F12 or F2) on your keyboard. You may need to press this key while holding the "Fn" key to toggle Wi-Fi on or off.
- Check Airplane Mode: Windows 10 and later versions have an "Airplane Mode" that can disable both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Ensure that Airplane Mode is turned off. You can find it in the Action Center or in the Settings app.
- Network Troubleshooter: Use the built-in network troubleshooter in Windows to diagnose and fix network issues. Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Status" > "Network Troubleshooter" and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Reset Network Settings: You can try resetting your network settings to their defaults. In "Settings," go to "Network & Internet" > "Status" > "Network reset." Follow the on-screen instructions, and restart your computer.
- Update or Roll Back Wi-Fi Driver: Even though the Device Manager indicates that your drivers are up to date, you might consider updating or rolling back the Wi-Fi driver. Sometimes, the latest driver updates can cause issues. You can do this in the Device Manager.
- Perform a System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try using Windows System Restore to revert your computer to a previous state when the Wi-Fi was working.
- Scan for Malware and Viruses: Malware or viruses can sometimes interfere with network connectivity. Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out this possibility.
Keep in mind that the exact steps and options may vary slightly depending on your version of Windows. Make sure to back up important data before making any significant changes to your computer's settings or performing a system restore.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for replying. Nothing has worked so far. I checked Flight mode and noticed that although it is turned off under Wireless devices on the same page Wifi is greyed out and turned off. I cannot turn it on as a result.
