Ethernet port mostly doesn't work. Randomly starts working again sometimes and then stops after a while. I have been experiencing this for 2 years on and off. I did troubleshoot the ports a couple of times and updated them but no change. I would appreciate if you could help. Thanks.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
This is a tough one to troubleshoot because you also have the reliability of your ISP, a modem, and possibly a router in the equation. Or maybe you should try a new data cable. Have you checked your PC's HP Support site for network adapter driver updates?
Is this the only PC wired to your LAN? Are other wired devices providing a consistent connection?
I also don't know the age of your PC; there are many Envy PCs made by HP.
You could check Amazon or NewEgg for a newer PCIe Ethernet adapter if you have an open PCIe slot on your MB or go wireless with a USB dual-band WIFI dongle.
You have options.
Regards
