That is great news, Dennis.

Please let me know what model PC you have, and if it has Intel hardware, I will give you the instructions to install the SATA AHCI driver so you can change the BIOS settnig back to AHCI for optimal drive performance.

I do not know how to do that with AMD hardware.

I am pretty sure it has Intel hardware in it.  The chipset and video are Intel if I'm reading everything correct.  I am attaching two files.  One that shows the product and serial number and a second that has a missing driver still.  It is a TI driver and from what I read it is for USB 3.0.  I did a web search and thought I got the right driver.  The actual driver from the TI site did install and shows up but this is still listed as unknown even after rebooting a few times.

Thanks,

Dennis

And even if it cannot be changed back to AHCI from IDE the computer is amazingly fast with Windows 7 so it wouldn't be a huge loss or setback.

Thanks very much for your help!

Hi:

Dennis:

This should be the usb 3.0 controller driver you need:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-106223-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

Your model is a HP Pavilion p7-1410.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=5296994&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&task=

All the W7 motherboard drivers can be installed using the drivers from this model.

I think there are some 32 bit drivers included but the PC is only supported for 64 bit.

DO NOT USE ANY BIOS OR FRIMWARE FILES FROM THIS LINK

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5197...

Now, to install the ahci driver, you need to first install the chipset utility driver and reboot.

You will find most if not all of the drivers you need listed under the Original Drivers heading.

Then download and extract these files to your hard drive and remember where you saved them to.

First or second file listed as applicable for 32 or 64 bit.

After you install the chipset driver and reboot, please go to the device manager and click to expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section and post the name of the SATA controller listed there.

If there is more than one, post the name of the one with the most ports.

I'm looking for Win7 drivers for the HP Pavilion p7-1410 Desktop. The links in this thread no longer work. Can someone point me to the correct links/drivers?? Thank you.

I wish this silly forum would let me quote or notify you somehow, I believe I've solved the mystery:  The HP p7-1410 uses the same motherboard as the p7-1380t, which has Windows 7 drivers available.

Current link to p7-1380t win7 drivers:

Good luck.
