@Amylineee, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Pairing a keyboard and mouse to your new HP desktop can vary slightly depending on whether they are wired or wireless. Here are steps for both types:
Wired Keyboard and Mouse
Connect to USB Ports: Locate the USB ports on your HP desktop and plug the keyboard and mouse into available ports. The computer should automatically recognize and install any necessary drivers.
Testing: Once connected, test the keyboard and mouse to ensure they are functioning. Typically, no additional setup is required for wired devices.
Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
Prepare Devices:
- Batteries: Make sure that the batteries are in place and functional for both the keyboard and mouse.
- Receiver: If your wireless keyboard and mouse come with a USB receiver (often found inside the mouse), plug it into one of the USB ports on the desktop.
Turn on Devices: Ensure both the keyboard and mouse have been powered on (most have a switch on the underside).
Pairing:
- Some modern HP computers have built-in Bluetooth that allows direct pairing with Bluetooth devices. If your keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth-enabled, go to your computer’s settings.
- Navigate to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Select “Add Bluetooth or other device” and choose Bluetooth.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.
Driver Installation: In most cases, Windows will automatically install the necessary drivers once the devices are recognized. For any specific drivers that might be needed, visit the HP support website.
Testing: Verify functionality by testing out your keyboard and mouse once they're paired.
