In HP Support Assistant it is taking ages (3 hours and counting) to download Intel Wireless Display on this brand new PC - a file of some 122.59 MB. I have super fast fibre broadband getting just short of 40 Mbps - so I cannot understand this. Even the slowest broadband should do it in less time. Any solutions?

The specifications on your desktop PC say nothing about Intel WiDi being a feature. From the specification, it is not part of the feature package that the desktop was delivered with.
All of the drivers available for direct download are located at the product support portal in the drivers and software section. Use the following link. I suggest saving the web page as a shortcut on the desktop.

Why not directly download it. I believe HPSA does many overhead checkings, connecting and reconnecting ... therefore it is slower.
