Product: HP Media Center m7060n Desktop PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP

I am trying to connnect this computer to the internet using a DSL access, Smart/RG modum and a Netgear 16 wireless router, as my firt attempt at upgrading this computer.  Ultimately  I would like to upgrade from the Windows XP to  Windows 10 (if possible).

When I connect my cpmputer directly to either the Modem or the Router using a Ethernet cable, I am not able to connect to the internet.  Can anyone help?
