I purchased this computer yesterday and it has a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have been unable to get either one working. Installed fresh batteries but nothing happens. I am used to installing a receiver to pair the keyboard but there is no wireless receiver. Please help.

hi

you have two options
either you have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard mouse kit, but seems quite rare to me
either you with a wireless kit, but with dongle
the dongle is sometimes somewhere in the mouse or in the packaging!
check to start if discoverable in Bluetooth
check if you can't find the dongle
it may not help but tell me the page, where you bought the computer
and the references indicated under the keyboard and the mouse

What model keyboard & mouse?  If Wi-Fi and included in the system  then they just need to be tuned on..  If purchased separately then look for the USB adapter.

 

If Bluetooth then you will need to pair them to the system.  That requires either borrowing a keyboard or using your touch screen if you have one.

sometimes two opinions are better than one

meanwhile I read the question of another user, with the same type of computer
except that it had disconnection problems, it worked
but does not help:

I purchased this at best buy online and had it delivered as currently unable to be mobile. It's a HP ENVY DESKTOP TE01-3254. IT comes with a HP 710 black keyboard and mouse combo. Checked all packaging and did not see a dongle. The mouse has a slot under the cover where a usb receiver would go but it was empty. Tried calling Best Buy support and was told even though the computer was 2 days old I would be charged for a geek squad visit because I did not purchase a geek squad  protection plan. Needless to say this will be my last purchase at Best Buy..

indeed it is very likely that this is the location of the dongle
anyway it is not normal, they must deliver you a computer in good condition and complete
you shouldn't have to pay for a missing or damaged part
try to insist , check their conditions of sale / guarantee return
if not try to contact hp directly

btw: check for the same 'under the cover' spot on the keyboard...don't know

about 710 series, but that is where I found the dongle for my old 300 series
