Modem/router connection

I have an HP Pavilion h8 1300z internet service is 100mbps xfinity. The wireless gives 110 mbps but the ethernet wire connection only gives 10 to 15 mbps. The computer needs an updated ethernet card, a gigabit 10/100/1000. I have searched support to find out what to buy but found nothing. What gigabit card do I need to buy?

Please check your cable first and use CAT5e or CAT6 cable and update driver using the following software:

           http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56680.exe

If you wish to change NIC, the following adapter is really good

I have tried cables to no avail. This problem has been going on since April. The wireless speed is fine110mbps and the ethernet speed is 20 mbps. The cable at the wall is 100mbps. The card has to be bad the ethernet card. I need to know what kind of card to buy and not a $300 card from HP.

I just use ether net to my desktop everything else is wireless. I just want an internal gigabit card to replace the on I have. but do not at this point know what I have.

Hi,

Please read my previous reply, it is integrated that means no card, the chip is builtin with the motherboard. If you wish to use PCCIe card, any standards gigabit card can do, they are very similar to the following card

When buying a card, please ask for driver or at least ask for where to download driver. Vendors used to supply a CD but now they normally don't do that.

I have a lot of good ethernet cables, haven't found a bad one yet. New cable 15mbps on ethernet replaced modem 15mbps on the ethernet. If you have another explanation for my problem I would like to hear what it is. Usually the problem is with wireless speed this is just the other way around. The ethernet card is the only thing that makes sense to me. I sure am open to any suggestions other than mine. I am more than a bit frustrated and will take all the help I can get. I am out of ideas. The only other thing that is possible is that I received two brand new modems with the exact same problem and I do not believe in coincidences or magic

On the HP site they showed mini cards and how to change them. I did not catch the integrated sorry. I have never seen an external  plug in cable attached to a motherboard and doing so makes no sense. It does compute after I torn down my wifes laptop and the cooling fan was blocked 75% and there was a 3/16in. gap between the heat sink and the chips. If HP designs something like that they could do any thing. There engineering is appallingevery single post a screw goes into is in pieces because of the design. I am not sure what to do now, is there a slot to plug an ethernet card into and will the case accomadate the card and plug??? I guess I need to tear the computer apart and look. Japanese call it gimbitsu gimba, LOL.

Looked like you have not read all my replies and the specs of your machine. Your machine, the HP Pavilion h81300z is a desk top, not laptop and even for laptops normal wired NIC port is integrated to the motherboard. Only wireless uses mini PCIe cards.

Are you trying to open a laptop to fix your desktop HP Pavilion h81300z ? Are you trying to plug a CAT5e or CAT6 cable to a wireless card ?

I was just talking about desktops the do not usually have external plug device connected to the mother board. The laptop was just an example of the junk that HP make and HP's lack of engineering skills.

I bought the Anker device you suggested.

I do not insult your intelligence please do not insult mine. Of course I am plugging ethernet cables to wireless divices how else would the modem router work, LOL!!!
