No Wireless in HP ProDesk 400 G5 Microtower PC

I have just purchased a HP ProDesk 400 G5 Microtower PC and the spec for this machine shows that it has Wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity (I can see no disclaimers to the contrary).  Neither of these functions work and the only networking device shown in Device Manager is GBe LAN ( which works OK).

Can the wireless be enabled in BIOS? (I assume that it is a Motherboard function).

Your model can have WiFi/Bluetooth combo.

PartSurfer does not show any WiFi installed.

You can also look-up your serial number at PartSurfer just to make sure.

You can open the case and see if it is installed???

Hi

The EMEA  datasheet for this machine against which I madethe purchase, states both Ethernet and Wireless Lan under the section 'Communication'. The associated technical disclaimer states that an access point and internet connection ar required to use the wireless functionality:

I cannot see any option on the UK shop site to purchase a Wireless card (I am in UK, not US).  THe only expansion card in the unit is a graphics card which I have just installed.

When you installed the graphics card did you look to see if the WiFi card was installed???

Yep, not there - only the Nvidia card that I fitted, nothing else.

I suspect that it was never set up for wireless, but that should be made clear to customers.  A year ago I bought a different HP desktop with a lower specification (HP 550-203NA i5) and that came with wireless and ethernet connectivity, which is the norm over here

Click on Wireless Lan Board.

It is a M.2 slot.

Hi Reo, 

Thanks for the video link - nope, I definitely have an empty M2 socket at that location.

I will live with ethernet for the time being, at least it is faster than wireless, it would just be good to know in advance exactly what you are getting 🙂
