HP All-in-One Desktop PC 27-cr0000a (70Y20AV)

Hello. I have activated WoL on my HP All-in-One PC. If I shut it down using WoL, the PC starts up after a certain amount of time. I have already updated the BIOS and the quick start is deactivated accordingly. What else could be wrong?

Hi @unbelievable198,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it can be when your Wake-on-LAN (WoL) feature isn’t behaving as expected, especially after you've made sure everything is set up properly. Let’s work together to resolve the issue!

  • Are you using a wired Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi to wake the PC? WoL typically works best with wired connections.
  • Does the issue occur every time you shut down the PC, or is it intermittent?
  • Have you checked if the network adapter settings are configured correctly in Device Manager?

Let's try these steps.

Check Network Adapter Settings

  • Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > your Ethernet/Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Right-click the adapter, select Properties, and ensure that Allow this device to wake the computer and Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer are checked under the Power Management tab.

Verify BIOS Settings Again

  • Access the BIOS by pressing F10 during startup.
  • Double-check that Wake-on-LAN (or Wake on PME or Remote Wake-Up) is enabled.
  • Also, verify that any related settings, like Fast Boot, are properly configured.

Disable Fast Startup (if applicable)

  • Even though you've already disabled Quick Start, it’s worth checking Fast Startup in Windows settings.
  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, and click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup if it’s enabled.

Test with Different Network Port or Cable

  • Sometimes issues with the physical network connection can prevent WoL from functioning properly. Try connecting the PC to a different Ethernet port on your router or using a different Ethernet cable to rule out any connection issues.

Update Network Drivers

  • Ensure that the drivers for your network adapter are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website or Device Manager > Update Driver.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
