Does it matter which cables running to the Intel wifi card go to aux and main? The cables running to the antenna are both black so I'm uncertain which goes to which connection. I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Do you know where the other ends go?

If the antenna wires are of different lengths, the longer wire would go to the Wi-Fi card's Main antenna terminal, and the shorter one to the Auxiliary terminal.

The main antenna terminal predominately is for Wi-Fi reception and the Aux terminal is for Bluetooth reception.

If the wires are the same length and go to relatively the same place inside the case, it won't matter which one goes where.

From what I could remember the length was almost identical. I took off the front panel to look at the antennas. Is it fair to assume the top is main and bottom aux? That's the only way I could really narrow this down.

HP Recommended

Yes, the one furthest away from the Wi-Fi card which I assume is the top wire, would be the Main.

Thank you, I'll double check that.

You're very welcome.

So here's the the unusual thing the top antenna is actually shorter than the bottom. I really don't see much a connection speed difference either way but would this mean in this circumstance that the shorter cable is running to main and not aux?

HP Recommended

Yes, that's what it would mean.

As long as the signal strength is the same with either wire on the Main terminal, I wouldn't worry about it.

You don't want to risk breaking the antenna wire taking on or off too much.
