I have an HP Pavilion 590-p0057c. My ability to connect to the internet via WiFi suddenly disappeared.  One day my computer connected to the internet via Wifi just fine and the next day when I fired it up it indicated that the ehternet connection was missing and gave me no options to connect via Wifi.  Under Network Properties it shows: Name: WiFi, Description: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter, Physical address (MAC): 74:40:bb:81:bf:a5, Status:  Not Present, Maximum transmission unit: 0, Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6):  Disconnected.  I went to HP Support and downloaded the network driver, but that did nothing.  I still only have the ethernet connection as a option.  The Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe does not show up in Device Manager under Network Adaptors.  How do I get my computer to reconnect to the network via Wifi?

Hi

Please try this...

Copy Paste and Save in Notepad as LLB.bat

Double click to run.

@ECHO OFF
getmac
systeminfo
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter"
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter -Name * | Format-Table -View Driver"
PowerShell -Command "GIP -Detailed"
PowerShell -Command "Test-NetConnection"

Thank you for responding, but this did not work.  I ran it once and it showed a good connection, but this is because I currently have my computer moved so that I can physically connect to the internet via ethernet.  I disconnected the ethernet cable and ran it again but the message indicated that something went wrong with the connection.  When I look through the text it is only recognizing that the computer has an ethernet connection.  It is a though the Wifi connection doesn't exist.

OK, from the posts it suggests you don't have working WiFi adapter.

It needs replacing.

Simple things to check/test are...

WinKey + R and type cmd.exe ping

Then in the DOS box that appears type individually, with no ethernet connected, and note the results...

getmac

netsh wlan show drivers
netsh wlan show interfaces

ping 127.0.0.1

ipconfig -all

Post anything relevant please.

It's as though the wireless adaptor doesn't exist.  When started the unit out of the box it connected my home network via WiFi.  Here's what I got:

C:\Users\Michael's PC>netsh wlan show drivers
There is no wireless interface on the system.

C:\Users\Michael's PC>netsh wlan show interfaces

Hi

Away from home so I am going to guess....

If your device has a WiFi button, aeroplane mode, F12 or whatever then there is a Wireless Button Driver to activate the WiFi.
