HP Spectre 15-eb0000 x360 Convertible Laptop PC RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I think my HP Spectre x360 updated on its own last night and removed all wifi options for me. On my network list, no options are shown. On the control panel in Network and Internet > Network Connections, the wifi/wireless option is nonexistent. The only option it gives me is LAN. The wifi driver I have currently is: Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz. It has a little yellow triangle next to it, and in properties it says “windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)”. In the advanced options it is set to “802. 11a/b/g Wireless Mode” and the next option below that is “802. 11n/ac/ax Wireless Mode”.

I have tried updating the driver, uninstalling the driver and restarting my PC. I have used HP Support Assistant which tells me there’s a problem with the driver. I have done a system file scan in command prompt. I am not sure what my next steps are. I read something about updating the BIOS. My current BIOS mode is UEFI and the version/date is AMI F.07, 6/16/2020. SMBIOS version is 3.2. Please help as I work from home and do schooling on this laptop every day.

I suspect the recent update to windows was a feature update and the Wi-Fi was affected..  There is a much newer bios,  just a month ago (Jan 13 2022) and I checked and it is the exact same bios download for windows 10 or for windows 11 so should work OK on your system.

I noticed that the Intel wlan (wireless) driver is dated June 17, 2021

You might download that at the same time in case it is needed

Post back if still a problem.

Seems like this has happened recently and you are not the first.  Read this on the possibility of rolling ack the Wi-Fi driver

There are newer bios out but I need your Product ID to ensure the correct one is found.

I have several PC's and only the HP are having this issue, my solution is going to Device Manager>remove networks adapters and reboot. everything came back.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I attempted rolling back the driver but the option was grayed out and I could not roll it back.

I downloaded the wifi driver and installed it, restarted. Tried updating the driver to the new one I installed, restarted, and it didn’t work. When I went back into device manager it still said the previous driver (intel r wifi 6 ax201 160mhz) is the main one, and it’s still says code 43. Should I try updated the BIOS, and then try and change the wifi driver again?

UPDATE: it says code 10 now, even though I did nothing after the restart. Seems to be switching as it’s turned back to code 43.

Check your bios version.  If older you should update using the link given earlier.

If you still have problems consider taking it in for service.  I suspect if you take it in all that will happen is a reinstall of windows.  Either the original disk from hp

If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.
The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.

check here to see if your system has cloud backup

Or having to buy disk if your system is older

I did a factory reset, then updated the wifi driver and audio driver as I was having some audio issues (stutters, stopping), then updated the BIOS, and it worked! Thanks so much for all your help.
