Unify bluetooth receiver dongle for multiple devices

Hello,

I finally get through all the * process to be able to ask my question and eventually get the answer NO.

So, I feel lucky already I was able to register and post my question...

The worst website and support I have ever seen in my entire life...

Simply: CAN I USE the same Bluetooth dongle from my  sheety HP mouse X4500 with my sheety new HP pavilion 600 keyboard?
HOW can we the users unify those receivers and use one for both/multiple devices? Logitec and Dell have the solution already.

I know BT dongle only supports few devices, normally 3. You can always try, hope this works.

Currently I'm using one BT dongle for my mouse X4500 and another one for my keyboard Pavilion 600.

What I'm asking for is using both devices the keyboard and the mouse with only one of the USB dongles, so I can save one USB port and simply use ONE bt receiver for as you said up to 3 devices.

Can keyboard and mouse of the same manufacturer work using only one of the receivers?

The mouse is bought separately from the keyboard, they are not a combo.

The mouse is recognized only by its own dongle. Same goes to the keyboard - recognized by its own dongle.

How to manipulate the dongle to let both devices communicate with it.

I already mentioned Logitec and their Unify software solution for this.

If both devices do use Bluetooth-only connection (and not some proprietary variant) then yes, it should just work.

All you need to do is to connect only one of the receivers into USB port (for example for mouse), and search & pair the other accessory (in this example the keyboard) with it. In order to pair it you will need to set the device (in this case keyboard) in pairing mode - I'm guessing it should be shown in the device manual how to achieve that - and follow on-screen instructions.

What I'm describing until now is that each of the mentioned HP devices is recognizable only with its own dongle.

1. I'm using the mouse HP X4500 - it works with its own dongle only;

2. When I try to find the keyboard, it is not listed at all in the available bluetooth devices. 

3. I can connect the keyboard ONLY when I add the keyboard's dongle (HP Pavilion 600) into the USB port.

Even if I try vice versa and put the mouse in pairing mode, I can not find the mouse with the keyboard's dongle...

In fact I can use the devices with their own dongle. I want to save one USB port in my laptop.

I'm asking how to let the mouse dongle find & connect with the keyboard as well.

How to tweak one of the receivers to work with both devices at the same time???

Confirms that this mouse (I assume you have this model exactly) does not use Bluetooth technology.

So unless both receivers are bearing Unifying logos and Logitech Unifying software can somehow come to rescue (I believe these are HP-branded  Logitech accessories)

then you are stuck with two receivers I'm afraid.

Is this really a problem though?
