Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter not connected.  Can't get on wifi with my desktop pc.  How do I know if the wifi card is bad?  Is there an update or a driver?  should I buy an external wifi dongle?

Hi:

This is the latest W8.1 wifi driver for that model card.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72927.exe

If that doesn't get the wifi card to work, I recommend that you purchase an external USB wifi adapter.

There is no easy way to tell if the wifi card is bad or not.

You would have to first do a factory reset of the PC to see if it was an operating system issue, and if the wifi still didn't work, then you can assume the wifi adapter is bad.

Thanks for your help Paul!  I downloaded the driver, but it still didn't work.  Am buying a USB wifi adapter.  Thanks very much!  Hope you have a great day!
