best replacement for Ralink RT5390R 802.1 b/g/n network adapter

I would like to replace the Ralink RT5390R adapter that came installed in my Pavilion p7-1534 machine, so that I can best take advantage of my AT&T 1 Gbps network (acknowledging that I'll never see 1 Gbps).  Currently my best download speeds, wireless, 2.4 GHz, are around 40 Mbps.  

Any advice appreciated, thanks much!

Yes, I see no reason why that card wouldn't work just as well.  It's just not A/C and will only connect at a max of 300 MBPS.

Apologies for a belated reply.  You piqued my interest raising the question of an A/C router.  My router is the ATT UVerse Pace 5268 AC model; given this, would you recommend a different ethernet card that would allow use of A/C?  This particular Pavillion system is using an AMD A8-5500 APU 3.2 GHz, 64 bit, with 8 GB of RAM, Windows 10 Home

Hi:

The AC is just the wireless standard.

The ethernet ports are probably gigabit ports, and your PC already has an Atheros integrated gigabit ethernet chip.

If you want an AC wireless card to work with the AC router, then the model I posted in the link to the other discussion would be the one you would want to get.
