I have a Pavilion Desktop model HP500-A60. I just switched over to Time Warner Cable since they were offering up to 200mbps internet speeds. There module is connected to my computer with an ethernet cable and it has a wireless wifi to my television set. I took a speetest and it shows I am receiving only 9.58mbps out of my internet computer connection. Their tech dept told me maybe I need a new ethernet card. I had a computer service run a diagnostic test and they attached a wireless adapter to my computers' motherboard, At least then I received around 48-49mbps for two days....then it went to 30's and then 20's and now I am only receiving 9,58 download speed for the past 4 days. I ran the speedtest a number of hours between 8am and 11pm with the same results. Now I dont know what to do. Can anyone shed some light to my problem and advise me what can I do next? Please help me if you can. Many Thanks.
Norman

My guess -- is that Time Warner is throttling your connection speed limit!
Can I prove this -- NO. Will they admit it -- NO.
I say this because I PAY a lot for 50MB/s (that's bytes, not bits) from Verizon and I regularly monitor my connection speed, so I know what to expect.
And then one day, after a series of large downloads, I suddenly noticed my transfer speed bottoming out -- much like what happened to you.
I contacted Verizon, demanding to know what they were doing -- and the tech person told me my Modem must have gone bad -- and they would send me a new one overnight.
OK ... maybe ... after all, equipment DOES fail.
So, the next morning, I tried again -- BEFORE replacing the old modem -- and my previous transfer speeds were back!
I mentioned this to other folks, and they have run into the same situations -- ISPs throttling folks.
So, call them and maybe they will send you new equipment that will (miraculously!) fix the speed problem.
Good Luck
