Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i  just got this hp pavillion all in one pc it is maybe 10 years old per the win11 compatibility app for win11. anyway it seems to only like 100mbps lan speed. my probook laptops like 1000mbps  and i see that on the network switch, the probooks lite up both lights and the aio only lites up the 100mbps lite.

so i'm hoping they had 2 network cards when they made this pc and i might get lucky and find the faster one on ebay.

also it has a 1.7 ghz speed processor and win11 does not like that so can anyone tell me if i can upgrade the processor to a 2.5 or 3.0 speed and if so on both counts what numbers might i look for. again i'm hoping i can find one on ebay for the processor as well.

plus as a bonus did this mother board happen to have a tpm slot and if so maybe someone can point to a tpm module?

thanks for any help on this.

You're very welcome.

I mistakenly looked up the wrong model number--a 23-p010.

You have a 23-b010 which is has the entry level AMD processor.

HP All-in-One PC Pavilion 23-b010 (H3Y90AA#ABA) AMD Dual-Core Processor E2-1800 (1.70GHz) 6GB DDR3 5...

Yes, that is a slow-poke processor indeed.

W11 should continue to get all the updates as long as it is supported by Microsoft.

I've had it running on my 'unsupported' PC's for almost 2 years now on both releases without a hitch.

I don't like the icons in the center of the taskbar either, but there is a setting to move the taskbar icons to the left as they have always been since who knows when.

How to Move the Taskbar Icons to the Left on Windows 11 (howtogeek.com)

I suggest that you start a new post regarding jury-rigging the PC to accommodate a different motherboard.

You may run into all kinds of issues including power connections, display panel connections being different, power supply being inadequate etc.

That motherboard also does not support any processors that meet Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirements.

What if you change out the mechanical hard drive in the one you have now for a solid-state drive, and max out the memory?

That should help performance a little bit.

Hi:

There are no upgrades of any kind that you can make to your PC to have it meet Microsoft's W11 hardware requirements.

Also, the ethernet adapter is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

The product specs for the PC indicate that it comes with a gigabit ethernet adapter, so I don't know why your PC is only connecting at 100 MBPS.

HP Pavilion 23-p010 All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

I use Cat 6 ethernet cables to ensure my PC's connect at 1 GBPS on ethernet.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

thanks paul i tried a cat6 cable from the modem and it did not help. i tried moving the cable to different network switch port and that failed. and those ports were allowing 1000mbps when i tried the aio . i did  find out it will not allow a processor update as the processor is soldered to the mother board. i did find a HP Pavilion AIO 23-B 23-B037C mother board that sure looks like the 23-b010 i have and i think that one is a faster processor so i asked the seller if they can tell me the processor speed and the network speed and if it has the tpm 2.0.

i know how to install win11 i have the iso to do it but if the pc is not win11 ready i do not believe it will get the proper security updates from window as needed. it will be like the chromebooks that google promised they would keep up on the security and then dropped the older books because the new ones were not selling.

anyway if i can't upgrade it i will just put it in a yard sale and sell it someone may have a use for it

thanks

You're very welcome.

You can't add a TPM 2.0 and the minimum processor requirement for W11 is an Intel 8th gen core processor.

There are no compatible motherboards for the 23-b0xx model series that support the Intel 8th gen core processors.

Those Intel 8th gen motherboards would probably come with TPM 2.0 security chips.

All of the PC's I have upgraded to W11 have gotten every security and cumulative update Microsoft has released.

I check them against a W11 PC I have that fully supports W11.

The only thing is that each September/October when Microsoft releases the new build of W11 (the next will be 23H2), you have to use the Rufus v3.18 utility to do the same thing to upgrade from W11 22H2 to W11 22H3.

Not a big deal to do that for me at all.

I apologize my comment doesn’t have anything to do with the question but I want to sincerely thank you for the advice you give on this forum. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have been able to access photos and videos on my oldest brother’s Envy x360 laptop. He passed away last month and these are memories that my entire family cherishes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

thanks for that info.  so what your telling me is now the bootlegged win11 is getting updates like win10 is getting but what bothers me is when win10 is no longer updated and they only update win11 will they be updating the older machines that they say need that processor and the tpm for the security updates to run properly?

i have win 11 on a stick now with rufus and i put it on 3 machines on different drives and for one i'm not a fan of the layout but my guess is when it becomes the main OS that someone will come out with a win10 lookalike screen.  i do not care for the tasks located in the center of the bar and one is half covered by the start button.

anyway the reason i'm messing with the 23 aio pc is for the screen size, our old eyes are not liking the 14" and 15.5" screens on the laptops, the worst case is i may take the screens off the probooks and use the hdmi port for a larger monitor and the laptop for the pc  so i was looking at the 23aio pc for the screen size. much better. but the 1.7 processor is junk, i did not know it had that processor as i got it from goodwill and they had no clue.

i found a 23-p series pc that uses the lavender-u series motherboard with the intel processor in it and it may have the tpm on board but most likely the 1.2 not the 2.0  but if it is changeable i can change it out. it looks to be the same size as the 23-b010 mother board and the ports are in the same locations but the component ports point out to the side instead of up like the usb and power ports do, but if the  component are the same configurations i can plug them in to the side and cut out the cover to accommodate them

also if i can find out if that one likes win11 i know it likes win10 then  i may get one and install it and see how it  works.

there just may be a person here that knows if the 23-p series mother board will fit and work in the 23-b series aio machine

and have the speed as hp specs say the lavender boards have 2.5 to 4.0 processor speeds. here is the link to the lavender 23-p series machines

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04014873          lavender - u series mother board link

photo of my 23-b010 board

so if this lavender-u  board might fit and give the machine a faster experience then it just may be worth messing with it. i took the cover off the 23-b010 and they look the same but the lower right ports point up on the 23-b series and they point to the side on the 23-p series so if the footprint matches being they are bot 23" screens my guess is they are the same footprint board but different processors  i do see the  ports on the lower right side are setting in a pointing out position as to pointing up but if they are the same configuration and the components do fit then that lavender-u board just may work. i have changed out mother boards on towers and desktops before but never a aio machine

 thanks

ok thanks it kind of looks like this is a no go for sure.  i will just pack it up then and see if i can sell it on craigs list. and  see if i can remove the screens off the laptops and hook up larger monitors and just use the laptop main body for the actual pc and keyboard. i do not need the wifi in the cover as we have lan connections i have a few probook laptops on the shelf and will look into running them without the laptop screens just a larger monitor. i do not have the room to just add a 2nd screen an place it on the table or the wall. maybe if someone has done that they will chime in and let me know

thanks
