when I try to set up the printer on the printer screen it asks for a passphrase. I have entered all the modem info and system wifi info and keep being told I have an invalid WPA passphrase??the printer worked before I installed a new modem and has worked on and off(mostly) since. my lap top is a MacBook Air and it says my printer is not connected.

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Please treat this as new router and use the following instructions to fix:
http://www8.hp.com/au/en/campaigns/wireless-printing-center/reconfiguring-system-help3.html
Please also note: Your printer may only support 2.4GHz therefore you need to check and allow your router to broadcast both (dual) bands which are 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz.
Regards.
