The printer work o.k. when printing via wifi but I am unable to get it to work when trying to scan. The printer was previously connected via a USB cable, since removed. Print/Scan Doctor still only finds the USB printer but cannot find the wifi or if it does the box cannot be selected.  Win10 firewall disabled and Kaspersky is happy to work with HP devices. My router has both 2 & 5G bands although the printer can only find 2G whereas the PC has both.   Regards

I have had some partial success but my PC works better with 5G and is very slow with 2G. I think the main problem lies with the location of my router which is about as far away from the PC and printer as you can get in the house. Unfortunately, the router needs to be where it is as it needs to be connected with the set-top box. I think the easiest solution is to go back to the USB connection, which is a pity as that means giving up the replacement cartridge scheme.  Many thanks for your assistance.  Regards

Greetings @dlfjaf,

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are facing an issue with your printer where you are unable to scan.

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

Are you able to make a copy on the printer?

Do you get any error when you try to scan?

Note: HP Printers do not work or connect to 5Ghz networks. If you are using a dual band router, please give different names to 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz networks and connect the printer to the 2.4Ghz network.

Recommend you follow the procedure mentioned below to uninstall the printer completely and install it back.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for the reply, all HP printers work only on the 2.4GHz network. The 2.4GHz network has better range than a 5GHz network. Recommend you uninstall the printer software as suggested earlier and install it back to resolve the issue you are facing. If the printer is able to connect to the 2.4 GHz then you should be able to print and scan without issues after reconfiguring the printer to 2.4 GHz network.
