Hi @gardrum2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC's Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting after a lightning strike, there are a few potential causes and solutions to consider.
- Check if the lightning strike damaged your Wi-Fi router or modem. If it did, you may need to replace the damaged hardware. Test your connection by connecting your PC to another Wi-Fi network or connecting directly to the modem via Ethernet cable.
- Check your PC's network settings. If your PC is set to automatically connect to Wi-Fi, try manually connecting to your network to see if that resolves the issue. Also, try resetting your Wi-Fi adapter by going to Device Manager, right-clicking on the Wi-Fi adapter, and selecting "Uninstall device." Then, restart your PC and let it automatically reinstall the Wi-Fi adapter.
- Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your Wi-Fi adapter. You can typically find these updates on the manufacturer's website or through Windows Update.
- Consider using a Wi-Fi extender or a powerline adapter if your Wi-Fi signal is weak or unstable. These devices can help improve the signal strength and stability of your Wi-Fi connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
