since late, I have been unable to use my wireless mouse effectively. I can use the mouse to do just about anything such as moving the mouse, right click, etc except for scrolling. I uninstalled the driver already and restarted the laptop but it's still not working.

Hi @kimmilina,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've already uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for your wireless mouse and you're still experiencing issues with scrolling, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Mouse Settings: Ensure that scrolling is enabled in your mouse settings. Sometimes scrolling functionality can be disabled accidentally or through a software update.
- Update Mouse Driver: Even though you've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, there might be an updated version available. Try updating the driver again, either through Windows Update or by downloading the latest driver from the HP website.
- Try a Different USB Port: If your wireless mouse uses a USB receiver, try plugging it into a different USB port on your laptop. Sometimes, issues can arise due to problems with the USB port itself.
- Check Battery: If your wireless mouse is battery-powered, ensure that the batteries have enough charge. Sometimes, erratic behavior can occur if the battery level is low.
- Test with Another Device: If possible, test your wireless mouse on another computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the mouse or your laptop.
- Check for Interference: Wireless mice can sometimes be affected by interference from other wireless devices or electronic devices. Try using your mouse in a different location to see if the problem persists.
- Reset Mouse Settings: You can try resetting your mouse settings to default. This option is usually available in the mouse settings menu in the Control Panel or Settings app.
- Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up-to-date by checking for and installing any available Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for issues like this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
