I just wanted everyone to know that I had the same issue with the screen image being too large when I tried to connect to my HP 2310m via HDMI from my 2011 Apple Macbook Air. I tried adjusting the overscan with a overscan/underscan slider that appeared in the display preferences window associated with the 2310m display. While this did allow me to get the entire desktop image to be displayed, the quality of the image dropped considerably with the rescaling. I then tried using a DVI connection, and the desktop image displayed flawlessly.

This 2310m monitor is the first device that I have ever even heard of overscanning an HDMI signal. I agree that it is very strange and should be fixed/adjusted by HP.

Instead of using

  1. Press the Menu button on the front of the monitor to access the OSD main menu.
  2. Navigate to Source Control by pressing the + (plus) or (minus) buttons on the monitor.
The source toggles between VGA, DVI, or HDMI.
  3. Click Save and Return after you make your choice.

Is there a way to create a shortcut from VGA to HDMI, or vice versa?
