What is the fix for this issue? I am having the same issue with a HP ENVY Phoenix 800-030qe CTO Desktop PC.
I have reseated the fan from the system board, but still having the same problem. Fan is running, so it's probably a false positive error message. Unable to find an option in the BIOS to disable this message, and no BIOS updates on the HP website.
I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with HP support, and didn't get anywhere. Despite this being a common problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi foehammer111,
I understand that you are getting the error 51-rear chassis fan not detected. I have been able to another thread with the same error and excellent trouble shooting steps. I have included the link to that thread <here>, and look at the post from lasvegaswireman.
Please let me know how this works for you.

After troubleshooting with them, I was told to send the computer in and it would be wiped. There is no problem with the fan. It's running with no issues. Clearly this is a false positive error message. Something that a BIOS update should fix, but there are no updates for this PC.
