Hello everyone,

I recently posted a question about whether or not I could install the Phenom II X6 1100T on my e9240f system which happens to have the H-RS880-uATX with a rated TDP of 125 watts, same as the Pheno 1100t. And even though this processor is not listed as one of my choices in my product specifications page I went ahead and bought since I read different thread where they mentioned that HP had forgotten to update the pages therefore the processor I wanted wasn't listed, and also the fact that this other model has the same exact same motherboard as mine and the Phenom 1100th is in fact listed in its product specification page:   http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02844678

That was one of my main motivation as to why I bought it.  To make story short, I got the processor and installed it in my system and it did work, however, not as I expected.  I was only able to get 787mhz per core and the model number wasn't displayed on my system propeties, it just said "unknown phenom processor". But here's the deal, I believe the processor I receieved was overclocked at some point in its life because on the TDP it read 129 watts which why I believe it wan't 100% compatible. Had it been 125 watts or less I'm sure it would have been. And I noticed that because my current processor is rated at 95watts, but in bios or other sofware I use to see how much enery is drawing, it's rated at 93.60watts. So I'm pretty sure that 129 watt had something to do with that, but that's just my guess.

In the mean time, is there a bios update for my system that would allow me to run the 1100t processor in case I'm wrong with my assumption, or are there any drivers for my AM3 socket?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

HP has not posted a BIOS update for your PC and the chance that HP will post a BIOS update for a 5 year old PC is slim to none.

AMD "Black" processors have a history of not working in HP motherboards.

The AMD processors listed for your particular model HP PC should be pretty much plug and play. You can try clearing the CMOS and if it's a still no go then it's time to move on.

I wouldn't go so far as saying that the motherboard in your PC is at the same EC level as the one made two years later.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I also cleared the cmos, which I had to do anyway for the new ram I installed, but I went ahead and did the same thing for the cpu and it did not work. I was also thinking about repalcing my motherboard with the same model, but newer, but how would I know which one is new and which one is an older model. I'm afraid of buying the same motherboard without seeing any changes. I'm also afraid that I will have to install a new operating system if I change the motherboard.

Hi,

I noticed that there is a contradiction with the HP motherboard specifications and the product specifications for the HPE h8-1060jp. Did you notice that discrepancy?

Yeah, I also noticed that in one page they list the Phenom 1100t as one of the upgradeable processor and the other one doesn't list it. I also noticed that one page has one motherboard listed and the other one has totally different motherboard with a a max tdp of 100watts

I also do not understand how come this model http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?DocLang=en&docId=emr_na-c02899776&docLocale=en_US ... comes with the Phenom as stock cpu, with the exact same motherboard as mine, but the processor doesn't work on mine.

Hi,

Just a little apples and oranges comparison with your examples.  North American models verses overseas models and we still have two years different in the market introduction dates.

I don't know which BIOS version you currently have installed, but the latest version for the H-RS880-uATX Motherboard is 6.09 (2013-05-08). You can download it here.

I have version 5.09, and this is the one I've been trying to download for a few weeks now but every time I try to install it it just tells me this "Incorrect BIOS for your system (253) Please download patch again. If error continues, contact support." So I figured it was only for computerters with 4gb of ram or more and my system has 4 dimms of 4gb each, 16gb total. I don't understand.
