Will I still be able to use the original HD? Or so I need to reset it to factory (WIN8.1)?

Hi

Disconnect the current HDD which is in a boot loop and has valuable data.

Connect the new HDD to the same SATA port the factory drive you just removed was connected to.

Download Win 10 Media Creation Tool. Run the Tool. Use the tool to create installation media on a USB stick or DVD.

Boot to the Win 10 media. Install Windows 10 clean.

Let Windows do updates and such. Check to see if all is stable.

Connect the factory HDD to the next open SATA port on the motherboard (power connection is also required).

Boot to Windows. You should be able to access the HP HDD to backup your data.

You can use the HP HDD as a data drive or do with it whatever you want. You could swap this HDD with the new HDD after you have backed up data from this HDD and reinstall Win 8.1 as a backup operating system.

You could use the HP HDD as a backup drive for storing Windows images. You could remove the HDD for future use.

You could reformat the HP HDD after you get your data and use it for online storage while using Windows 10.
