Hp Pavilion 19 All in one
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hello. ANY Help would be MUCH appreciated at this point. Heres the rundown of what is going on. Customer forgot their password on this HP 19 All in one. I have a fantastic password removal program. All im trying to do is get the PC to boot from my disc, to run the program. But i can NOT seem to get that done. I have tried everything i can possible think to try. According to HP's own website, the method is to use F10 at bootup, go in to "Boot Configuration", Disable Secure Boot, and Enable Legacy boot.......ahhhh but thats the problem! On this particular HP 19, the Legacy boot option isnt even listed in the same screen, anywhere! However, upon entering the confirmation code acknowledging a change to the boot order at bootup, and then hitting ESC, you can then choose F9 to select boot order, and THEN at the bottom of the screen you finally see a Legacy boot option.....but it will NOT allow you to select it or change it in any way form or fashion.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thx, Marcus

I see from the post that you are unable to boot from CD on your HP All in one PC. Don't worry as I have a few steps which should help to resolve the issue,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you made any software or hardware changes on the PC?

Was there any update/reset interrupted, recently?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the PC:

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset." Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

  1. Turn off the computer completely; disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  2. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

  3. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

    • If the computer starts, you are done.

    • If the computer still does not start and exhibits the same problem, continue the troubleshooting.

Please follow the steps suggested in the support document for HP PCs - Cannot Start Desktop Computer From a Bootable CD or DVD (Windows 😎 - Click here

I hope this helps, let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Sir, i appreciate your taking the time to reply to me.....HOWEVER, it almost lloks like you sent me an automated pre  typed message, because it has NOTHING to do with the issue im having. My issue was very clearly described. It has nothing to do with performing a hard reset, or power control. My symptom is that the PC will NOT boot from a disc. Simple as that. I too am an IT EXPERT! Theres not much that i dont know how to do. I have even tried the back door way of jumping in with a SATA cable. Nothin will enable Legacy. And even per HPs own website, the Legacy option is NOT in the same boot config menu that they say it is. On this one you have to manually disable secure boot, then accept changes with teh accept change of boot order code prgramming, then esc to go to boot order, and THEN and only then, is the Legacy option visible, but it still will not allow a toggle change, or selection.

So if you have some real advice that would actually help, please dont reply with another "hard reset" option, or telling me to do something that is obvious at a Level 1 stand point.

Thanks

Hi @unpluggednow,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

The only reason why I suggested to perform a Hard reset on the Notebook was as many startup error or other problems can be resolved by releasing the static charges present on the PC.

In this scenario, I would suggest you follow these couple of steps which should help to isolate the issue,

Please try to perform a Bios update, using this link. If your computer does not have an Internet connection, use another computer with an Internet connection to download the update and save it to removable media (for example, a CD or thumb drive).

Alternatively, you can try this bootable disc on another computer and check if it works.

Depending on the results, I would suggest you contact our HP phone support for further assistance. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone numberCase number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

Keep me posted for any other assistance,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
