I have an issue where my computer was working fine and now that I try to turn it on it does not. When I unplug the power cable from the power supply and connect it again I get a green light on the power supply. When I press the power button, the light goes out. When I get the green light the computer tries to start, I see that the fan starts working and the light on the power switch turns on but both turn off almost immediately. I unplugged the power supply from the motherboard and used a paperclip to check the power supply and the fan works just fine. What should be the next step onthis or what could be the problem with my computer?

As you said you own a Dell, my answer will be limited.
You might get some solace from an HP troubleshooter. But is sounds like you power supply is faulty.
