After successfully installed Windows 8.1 on a Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe SSD, system halt on first reboot saying "Boot Device not Found Error Message".
The bios was updated to v02.13 Rev.A (Feb 2013).
The computer is a EliteDesk 800 G1 Mini - G5R49UT.
No option available in bios to set first boot device to "M.2 PCIe".
Did someone have any clue?
Thank you.

Hello
Unfortunately that device is not supported by HP on this computer.
Here is a M.2 SSD drive that is supported on this computer. Installing and booting to M.2 port on this unit is supported using this part:
Here is the part number and description:

I have the same problem on my Prodesk 600 G1 Mini. There is no more m.2 PCIe Plextor SSD in BIOS after update (v02.07 >>> v02.16). So I can't boot the OS. All worked properly with BIOS v02.07. Is there any way to downgrade BIOS to v02.07?

Hello, guys,
1st of all, _thank you very much you_, RickyBee, for sharing us (and me, in particulary)
with the useful info: Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe SSD could be successfully installed and used in our HP EliteDesks.
2 hours ago I did the same: I successfully installed the Windows Server 2012 R2 on my Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe SSD placed in my HP EliteDesk 800 SFF. Heavy Windows Server starts up in 5 seconds! Das ist fantastisch! ^_^
But successful installing a windows OS is not a simple process, it has some tricks, and here I will share with you my knowledge of these tricks.
1st, install a Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe SSD drive into your computer. Use a Service Manual. It is quite simply.
2nd, install any 2.5" hdd drive into your comp.
3) install windows to the 2.5" hdd drive .
4) format (and, may be, divide your ssd drive on 1+ parts . I divided my Plextor on 2parts: ~150 + 100 GB)
your ssd drive.
5) after it the hdd drive will have drive name C:/; ssd drive will have drive name D:/ (etc.)
6) prepare a bootable usb flash drive (I did it with Active Boot Disk software from Active Software).
7) insert this flash drive and boot from it.
😎 copy 'Boot' folder and 3 files (bootmgr, BOOTNXT, BOOTSECT.BAK) from the hdd drive to the SSD drive.
9) format the hdd drive.
10) copy 'Boot' folder and 3 files (bootmgr, BOOTNXT, BOOTSECT.BAK) back from the SSD drive to the hdd drive.
11) reboot your comp, extract a usb drive and go to HP's BIOS (pressing F10 after start).
😎 change BIOS settings as it shown on the following picture: http://s001.radikal.su/2015/08/11/58a69464.jpg .
9) insert a Windows install usb flash drive into a usb port and reboot.
10) install windows to the SSD drive. It should be installed successfully and without problems.
11) PROFIT ! 🙂
Now SSD drive will be drive C:/, HDD - drive D:/, etc.
I'm not an expert in disk boot loaders, managers and disk partitions, but my humble opinion about successful result is the following:
when we installed windows on the hdd drive, we prepared the disk to be a "primary boot loader" 🙂 .
After copying 'BOOT' folder + 3 files on it we prepared the hdd for "loading Windows".
After we started the process of Windows installation, the installation process found on the hdd 'all required data for successfull installation Windows on the SSD drive'. I beleive when Windows starts from the SSD drive, it takes some boot data from the hdd drive.
I did not do an experiment with extracting my hdd drive from the comp and starting the comp without it.
So, my HP EliteDesk 800 SFF g1 mini now has 2 drives: a Plextor 256GB SSD drive (my Windows Server boots from it)
and a Hitachi 1.5TB sata 2.5" hdd drive (I was lucky to get it for cheap price).
Bios version is L4 v02.07 and I don't going to rise up it! 🙂 Let it be "as is now".
Best regards,
Nick

Hello, slydoug,
RickyBee and me were lucky to install and use a Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe SSD. In the Internet I found information about successfull using of a Samsung XP941 128GB ssd drive.
2 days ago I tried to use a wondeful Samsung SM951 256GB ssd drive, but was unlucky.
A key concept of successull using of your SSD in a HP EliteDesk computer is presence onboard a PCIe controller;
and a Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe SSD drive is one of this group.
Hm, I think it would be possible to use 512GB versions of a Plextor PX-G series and a Samsung XP 941 series as a boot drive in a HP EliteDesk 600(800), if to use an approach which I wrote in my previous post.
Best regards,
Nick

Hi, HecorPx .
Very interesting!
Please, provide details. What difficulties?
I also want to buy Samsung 950 PRO NVM M.2,
but I fear that it is incompatible with my HP PD 600 G1 mini.

0. Install 950
1. Upgrade from win7 to win 10, after which 950 was recognized in the bios
2. Install macrium
3. Clone drive
4. Change boot order in bios
5. Update bios
That's it. No issues what so ever.
