Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a HP Compaq dc7700p Convertible Minitower.

I am now in need of a driver for the ethernet controller which I haven't successfully found.

Can anyone help with the below...... Many Thanks

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1229
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_020000

Hi:

Do you have some kind of add on ethernet card?

I decoded the hardware ID's and it decodes to a:

Your Device Info

Compaq NC3123 Fast Ethernet NIC

Hardware ID

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1229&SUBSYS_B1440E11&REV_08
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1229&SUBSYS_B1440E11
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1229&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1229&CC_0200

The newest driver HP has for that card is from 2004 and it won't work on W7 64 bit.

If the onboard ethernet adapter is defective, you will need to purchase a windows 7 capable ethernet adapter.

Hi, I think these are the drivers I have already installed, but it still doesn't work. I will double check when I get home in a few hours.

Thanks

Hi:

For some reason you need to install the Intel ethernet drivers directly from Intel on the dc7700 and dc7800 models.

The second driver on the list is for W7 x64.

Hi Paul,

When I try to install this, I am getting the following error message:

"Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer"

Any ideas?

Many Thanks for your help

Ahhh right okay. I'm not sure if the card was an add on as I inherited the PC.

I will look into getting a new adapter.

Thankyou! :smileyhappy:

You're very welcome.

You may want to check if the orginal onboard ethernet adapter works first and use that Intel driver I posted.

If there is an add-on card, there will be two ethernet jacks on the back of the PC with the add on card's jack being toward the middle of the back.

The onboard ethernet adapter is grouped on the back toward the one side of the pc where all the other input ports are located.
