I have a Elite Desk 800 G1 SFF and I'm trying to install Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.  It currently has Windows 8 installed.   I'm trying to boot it from the on-board CD drive.  Legacy support is enabled and secure boot is disabled.  Is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong?

What is it doing? Did you change the boot order? Is the install disk booting?
HP Recommended

Yup changed the boot order and I put the CD into another computer and booted up just fine.  When I hit F9 to bring up the boot menu and I select the CD drive I get the error message.

did you get this resolved?  I have a customer with a similar issue on the Prodesk 600 G1.  Seems they had no issue installing Win 7 on a couple units purchased in january, but the current models came with a newer Bios relased in late Jan, I don't have the details of the problem yet.

When booting the win7 cdrom press F9 to get bios boot menu..select the cd/dvd drive that appears under Legacy boot (AHCI). Continue booting from cd an install win7.

Win7 cannot boot from uefi (GPT) patitions.

If that doesnt work (It shojld it worked for all 900 new wrkstns so far)...then go into BIOS and disabled all UEFI devices listed under Storage.

Cheers
