....hi all, I am back again almost thre years later, wow!!!
Lots has changed over that duration of time, however I am still using my same CPU that I installed the 750ti. It's been a great card, but I know there are much better cards at this stage.... ....what could around 300.00 (canadian dollars) get me that would be compatablie?
...would this card work perhaps? https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137054&ignorebbr=1
I know my CPU has an older bios that required the engaging of the 'legacy switch' on the 750ti. HP Pavilion HPE h8-1227 Desktop - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) .
See link for my exact CPU: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03363686
Fingers crossed that I might be able to 'fish out' some sort of reply or suggestion on further upgrading to a compatible video card... ...doesnt have to be MSI, I've just had good luck with that brand.
Thanks again x a million in advance,
Rawk

Looks reasonable to me. A few things to check out before ordering one, though:
Go to the Nvidia site for describing their graphics cards, and check out the minimum power supply wattage they recommend for that model of card. Then check your power supply or its specs to see if it is at least that much. I'd tell you what site URL if I hadn't just noticed that most of by web link database has disappeared.
Do a Google search for the motherboard model number, and check if what you find mentions any problems getting it to run with some graphics cards. The motherboard in one of my computers won't even boot with any Nvidia-based graphics cards that use a GPU more recent than the Fermi generation.
Also, make sure the new card also has a legacy switch; this is specific to the card, not the corresponding Nvidia card, so looks up the specs of whichever card you plan to buy.

Open up the command prompt and enter: MSINFO32
If the BIOS mode is UEFI then most modern graphics cards should work depending on physical size and power requirements. Additionally, your HP BIOS level should be version 8.
The many models of the NVIDIA 1050TI require a minimum PSU size of 300 watts and be equipped with an auxiliary 6 pin PCIe power connector.
Do some measuring inside your PC and make sure that the NVIDIA 1050TI will fit. If you are short on space then review the EVGA NVIDIA 1050TI models. Some of these models should fit and don't require the extra power connector but do require a PSU of 300+ watts.

Open up your PC and measure inside and see if your desired graphics card will fit. Why replace a very expensive graphics card? While your PC is open, read the label on the PSU. What is the total wattage?
What OS are you running?

If your application renders to disk then install a SSD. Also, check with the application software manufcturer to see if more memory would help.

Not sure if this was mentioned throughout the article, but adjusting the virtual memory settings can also benifet any video card settings. A location RAM to the card allows the card to have a wider range of memory storage or flexablity.
