HP Envy 1T HD and 128GB SATA

I just purchased a HP Envy 750-414 yesterday.  I am transferring files and folders from my old PC and the transfer went immediately to the  C drive with 128 GB... and Im already up to 65 GB and the transfer of data has not completed.  I dont understand the reason for partitions, and am not sure how or if I should have put the files/folders into the D drive where there is 1T on teh hard drive.
its all confusing... can someone tell me if I should move the folders to the D drive with the 1T storage space.

Yes. Absolutely.

Move and store your files and other data to the 1TB hard disk which is your storage drive. The 128GB SATA SSD is where the OS and your programs  should reside.

The setup on the PC I am typing this on.

I know Im going to sounds like a total dud but I need clarification  so I know that Im doing this correctly.

1) The 128 GB SATA is where my OS is, and anytime I load new software I should put the software there?  in that drive.

2) Now , with Microsoft One Drive, and documents etc.. do I change them and put them in the D drive with 1T storage. How do I move theem versus copying and pasting which Ive read isnt thee best way o mve things...

3) Also, I see you have all those partitions in your PC example... how do I create partitions, and should I create a partition  of the 1T STORAGE...  what is the purpose of having partitions versus clumping everything into one 1T drive?

Microsoft OneDrive is cloud based. It is in the cloud, not on your PC.  Just keep an eye on the amout of free space in the C: drive

Creating folders, not necessarily partitions,  is just a better  and simpler way to organize the data. I have Terabytes of stuff. Open the File Explorer, right-click on the hard disk's icon and select New. Name it something that relates to the type of data you are saving.
