Hi there,

I have a HP Touchsmart 600-1120, It will power on and i think i can hear the cd drive or HDD.  But no fans. Then after about 20 sec i start to hear 2 long beeps. then they stop for like 3-5sec and then 2 more and this repeats over and over.  I can not find the beep code for this. Is this the Bios?, overheating? or ram? I love the PC and would to really have it back.

Hello UnrealDreams:

Welcome to HP's forum. Thank goodness it's not to serious not to much for parts as well. Ether it's your video card or Optical Drive is not being detected. Check out the two beeps codes are on this page.http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02222922 Let us know if you having any troubles with figuring out code, gettin parts or getting direction for replacing part . Ready to become a computet doctor? It is just time consuming removing our back pannels parts usually just snap in and plug wires what few they have. frrw.

after testing the memory, i see that the 2 beep i hear are short beeps. So how do i test this? Do i look to see if the drive is hooked up? The other thing i wanted to know, is i get a black screen and no text or any thing. Will the Optical drive keep it from coming on?

I have a update. I unpluged the DVD drive and i got a one beep code. So i pluged it back in. I unplug the LCD touch screen and i get a new beep code. I unplug the Videocard (594507-001) and i get the same beep code. So i take it as it muct be a bad video card.

You said you were getting 1 beep though?

right now i have not idea. Geeksquad said it was 2 long beeps and they did not know what that means then told me BIOS get new motherboard.

Then to find out its giving 2 short beep, and not long ones. so to the beep code that means "Floppy diskette or compact disc not detected" so i unplug the DVD drive to test. I get just one short beep. So far its like the codes on my board do no match.

I removed the memory and started it. 1 short beep and then 1 long beep. is what it gives me right away. less then 1 sec after starting the PC.

But the 2 short beeps start little later. Like around 10 sec or so after the PC is started. I can see the fans turn on, and hear the HDD. then i get the 2 short beeps

Do this right now. Go to The Parts store click on live chat on the right side. Ask to look up your Video card information and clearify the beeping codes. They should tell you real fast and how much the part cost. frrw
