Hi,

It seems that there is definately an issue with that monitor.  Would there be a way you could get an external monitor from a friend or take your pc to a repair facility (ex. Best Buy, Staples) to test it on one of their monitors.  If it display fine on another monitor, then unfortunitly your monitor is defective.  If not, it could be the graphics card.

I work for HP

Tomorrow I'm going to get an adapter and/or an s video cable so I can hook the PC up to another monitor or the tv to see if that works and the try to reset things to see if I can get the regular monitor working.

My hp m8100y recently experienced what I thought was a hard drive failure however after installing the new hardrive the computer refused to boot up even up to the BIOS. The monitor an hp w2270 will not wake from sleep mode i tested it with my laptop and it worked fine so it is not the problem. I also used the VGA connector on another another monitor but it also refuses to work. The computer begins to run normaly but I can't get a monitor to work with it. I've run almost every test and tried every solution i could think of or find on the internet ranging from bios resets to re-seating the cpu but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions on what to do would be much appreciated even if they are simple. I am quite good with computers so any technical solutions aren't a problem. Thanks!

Hello _ORION_,

Before we get started you state that when you have your M8100Y hooked up to your w2207 monitor that you get no display, is that correct? If that is the case I will do all I can to assist you.

The monitor is fine it works with my laptop. I also tried using an old VGA cable monitor that also works with my laptop so it is definitly a problem with the computer.

Yes, when I turn the computer on it runs normally with no beeps from the motherboard, but the monitor doesn't wake up like it normally would it just stays off untill i push the power button. Then it just says no signal for both DVI and VGA.

_ORION_

Thank you for that information.

Try doing a hard reset.

1.       Remove all connections from the computer including the power cable

2.       Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds

3.       Only reinsert the monitor, mouse, keyboard and power only

4.       Turn it on to test

Let me know you results when you can.

Thanks
