As I understand the computer is not powering on although there is a green light on,

Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Although, I need a few details to provide an accurate solution:
Which green light are you referring too?

Was the update process interrupted?

When was the last time it worked (date)?

Have you attempted any steps of your own to solve the issue?

In the meantime, please attempt the below steps:

Perform a hard reset

Attempt a BIOS recovery

Run the System Diagnostics tests

For more steps, click here

Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

Hello,

The green light Im referring to is on the back of the tower, just below the AC connection point; it's a steady green when connected, off after a few seconds when disconnected.

I'll try to do a hard reset.

Thanks

Tried the hard reset--no fix, still not turning on.

suggestions?

@BK65

Thank you for replying,

If you have attempted the hard reset & yet the issue persists,

I would recommend opening the tower via the side panel and reseat the 24-pin ATX cable to the motherboard ( if you are comfortable) as a loose connection could be the cause of the issue,

If that doesn't work or if you aren't comfortable doing it, please contact HP Phone support for a repair as this needs to be fixed at the repair center:

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I've already determined that it's not likely the power supply, as the green light comes on when I connect the power supply and it stays on, which, by HP's own troubleshooting guides, means that it's NOT the power supply.

Any other solutions? If not, can you refer me to someone more knowledgeable with this sort of problem?

Thank you,

What is the cost of a new HP power supply for this model, and where can I buy one?

@BK65

Thank you for replying,

To obtain the details about the power supply, I recommend using the parts store: Click here

That would have all the details you need regarding the part number and price information,

Let me know if you need any further assistance,
